FAQs
Is "Les Domestiques" a charity?
No. We decided to become a "Not For Profit" organization, in order to be able to keep our administrative costs down, and to be able to participate freely in a "non-competitive way" with cycling-based charity events.
What is a "domestique"?
It is a term used in professional cycling road racing. A domestique is a member of the team that serves the team leader. We mean it more generally around our concept of "Cyclists Who Serve" - we love to ride, and we often ride to give back to our community and for good causes.
What does my $1,000 membership fee cover?
The expenses to run the club including web-site, a cycling kit for each member, the cost of (some) events, and a donation to a Charity to be decided on by membership.
Do I get a tax receipt for my membership fee?
Unfortunately, no. We are a "not-for-profit" organization, not a charity.
How does this differ from a regular cycling club?
Refer to the "Who Are Les Domestiques" page for details.
Why are there no "sponsors" for Les Domestiques?
We decided that although there were many interested potential sponsors, that the club itself would be "member driven", and we would direct sponsorship by the companies we own, work for, or can influence to the charities we support directly. That way, the membership is free to direct the advocacy and direction of the club without any undue influence.
